Legislative Update – May 11, 2018

ONE WEEK LEFT FOR THE MISSOURI STATE SENATE
TO PASS, HB 1266
THE PAIN CAPABLE UNBORN CHILD PROTECTION ACT
And other pro-life legislation

CALL:

1. Call the President of the Senate, Ron Richard  (573-751-2173)

 

2. Call Majority Floor Leader, Mike Kehoe (573-751-2076)

 

NOTE:These two Senators decide what bills will come to the floor for a vote.

   

ASK:

1. Ask these Senators to put on the calendar and pass the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act – Ban Abortion at 5 Months of Pregnancy – 16 other states have already done this! (HB 1266))

   

House and Senate Pass Budget which includes the following pro-life provisions:
HB 2007:  Pro-life protective language on MO Technology Investment Fund to prevent human cloning and embryonic stem cell research with these tax dollars.
HB 2010:  Pro-life protective language on Family Planning Services to prevent tax dollars from going to abortion providers.  Prevents tax dollars from going for abortion services and/or abortion referrals.
HB 2011:  Includes:

  1. $8,958,561.00 for Alternatives to Abortion Program
  2. $15,700,027.00 for Show-Me Healthy Babies Program
  3. $1,398,993.00 for MO HealthNet Pilot Program to help pregnant and postpartum women who are addicted to Opioids to be treated and helped to get off drugs and go through rehabilitation

NOTE:  HB 2010 and HB 2011 also include pro-life language giving direction to the Director of the Department of Health and Senior Services and the Director of Social Services not to use tax dollars for abortion services directly or indirectly through abortion providers.

Missouri State Senate Bill – In the House:
SCS SB’s 632 & 675 as amended on the floor- Sponsor:  Bob Dixon – Omnibus tax credit bill that includes the extension of tax credits for donations to Pregnancy Resource Centers (Support)
Current Status:  Referred to House Fiscal Review Committee on May 10, 2018.
