Legislative Update – January 18, 2019

The 2019 legislative session has begun and work is moving along.  This week we saw the assignments of your legislators to their prospective committees in the House and Senate.
See what Committee your House and Senate Members will serve on here:
House:  https://house.mo.gov/Committees.aspx?cluster=true
Senate:  https://www.senate.mo.gov/standing-committees/

On Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. we also heard from Governor Parson in his State of the State address about his priorities for this legislative session and for the years to come.  Governor Parson made the statement that one of his priorities is “promoting a culture of life and that this must be done.”  We applaud Governor Parson for his stand to protect innocent human lives and we look forward to working with the Governor to get pro-life legislation passed!
Continue to pray for wisdom for all our elected officials!
If you missed the State of the State address by Governor Mike Parson, you can watch it here:

To date there have been 267 bills and 26 various resolutions filed in the Missouri Senate.  There have been 584 bills and 52 various resolutions filed in the Missouri House.

Your Missouri Right to Life Legislative Team is working with legislators on pro-life bills for the 2019 legislative session.  We will continue to review all bills filed and will be reporting weekly in the lifelines during the legislative session.  We will update you weekly on bills that have either a positive or negative impact on our ability to protect innocent human lives at every stage of life and development.

We encourage you to visit the 2019 Missouri Right to Life Legislation page on our website on a regular basis to see information regarding the 2019 Legislative Session.  This page is a compilation of testimony given at hearings, memos delivered to legislators and much more.  This page allows you to see what is happening in your Missouri State Capitol on pro-life issues and lets you see some of the information your legislators are receiving regarding pro-life legislation.

VERY IMPORTANT DATE:
Mark Your Calendars Now -  Plan to Attend 2019 Pro-Life Action Day
Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the Missouri State Capitol at 10:00 a.m. on the first floor rotunda.  Sue Thayer, current Director of Outreach for 40 Days for Life and former Planned Parenthood abortion clinic manager will be our guest speaker.   Sue will share with us the urgency of passing more pro-life legislation to protect unborn children that feel pain during an abortion.

Please print off the “Show Me Life” Action Day flyer and distribute to your pro-life friends, family and church members.  http://www.missourilife.org/assets/2019-lobby_day_flyer.pdf

Your attendance at lobby day is essential to the passage of solid pro-life legislation for 2019 and the continued defunding of Planned Parenthood!
