2016 Pro-Life Legislative Information

  • April 19, 2016 – Testimony in Support of HB 2127 – Sponsor:  Tom Hurst – Expands one new section relating to transporting a
    minor across state lines to obtain an abortion.
  • March 29, 2016 – Testimony in Support of HB 1953 – Sponsor:  Kathy Swan – Modifies provisions related to abortion.  Includes pro-life language for donation of fetal tissue, tissue reporting, physician privileges, ambulatory surgical center reporting and abortion facility inspections.
  • March 29, 2016 – Testified in Support of HJR 98 With Major Concerns – Sponsor:  Mike Moon – While we support the fact that the unborn child is a person and deserving of protection under the law and we are working every day to get this protection, we do believe there is a very real danger that a bad U.S. Supreme Court decision at this time could knock down every pro-life law passed in the last 43 years and reaffirm Roe.
  • March 15, 2016 – Testimony in Support of HB 2558 – Sponsor:  John McCaherty – Changes the laws regarding custody of in vitro human embryos
  • March 2, 2016 – Testimony in Support of HB 2502 – Sponsor:  Joe Don McGaugh – Establishes the “Designated Health Care Decision-Maker Act”
  • February 23, 2016 – House Children and Families Committee took testimony on the following 5 bills, giving witnesses one opportunity to testify for all 5 bills at one time in one sitting.

  • February 16, 2016 – Testimony in Support of 1915 – Sponsor: Bill Kidd – Establishes “Simon’s Law” which changes the laws regarding life-sustaining or non-beneficial treatment policies of health care facilities.  NOTE:  Hospitals and Physicians turned out to oppose this bill.  Their testimony was that physicians should be able to put a Do-Not-Resuscitate order in your minor child’s medical file without your consent or knowledge.  Be aware and be knowledgeable about what is in your child’s medical file.
  • February 16, 2016 – Testimony in Support of 1968 – Sponsor:  Sonya Anderson – No physician shall perform an abortion upon a minor unless such physician first obtains the notarized written consent of both the minor and one of her parents or her legal guardian.
  • February 9, 2016 – Testimony in Opposition of HB 2321– Sponsor:  Caleb Rowden – Establishes the Missouri Advanced Industries Acceleration Act,  Open Ended funding, tax credits or tax incentives that could be given to businesses that are involved in abortion services, human cloning and/or embryonic stem cell research – Missouri Right to Life asking for pro-life amendment.
  • February 9, 2016 – Testimony in Opposition of HB 2302 – Sponsor:  Caleb Rowden – Establishes the Missouri Angel Investment Incentive Act, Open Ended funding, tax credits or tax incentives that could be given to businesses that are involved in abortion services, human cloning and/or embryonic stem cell research – Missouri Right to Life asking for pro-life amendment.
  • February 2, 2016 – Testimony in Support of HB 1714 – Sponsor:  Tila Hubrecht – Establishes the Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act
  • January 19, 2016  – Testimony in Support of HB 1370 – Sponsor:  Rocky Miller – Changes the laws regarding notification prior to a minor obtaining an abortion.
  • April 26, 2016 – Testimony in Support of HCS HB’s 2069 & 2371 – Sponsor:  Diane Franklin –  Changes the laws regarding the prohibition on the sale of aborted fetal remains, provides whistleblower protections for employees who work in facilities that handle aborted fetal remains,  changes the definition of “remains of a human fetus”,  changes the laws regarding abortions and required tissue reports,  and abortion facility inspections.
  • April 12, 2016 –Testimony in Support of HB 1370 before the Senate Seniors, Families and Children Committee– Sponsor:  Rocky Miller – Changes the laws regarding notification prior to a minor obtaining an abortion.
  • April 5, 2016  – Testified in Support of SR 1793 and the Senate’s right to do procedural moves to request and gather information – Sponsor:  Kurt Schaefer – SR 1793 simply issues a summons to Mary Kogut of Planned Parenthood to appear before the Senate
  • April 5, 2016  – Testified in Support of SR 1794 and the Senate’s right to do procedural moves to request and gather information – Sponsor:  Kurt Schaefer – SR 1794 simply issues a summons to Dr. James Miller of Pathology Services to appear before the Senate
  • March 29, 2016 – Testimony in Support of SB 1129 – Sponsor:  Jeanie Riddle – Changes the laws regarding custody of in vitro human embryos.
  • March 2, 2016 – Testimony in Opposition of SB 672 – Sponsor:  Maria Chappelle-Nadal – Repeals the Statute that Keeps Planned Parenthood from Teaching Sex Education in Public Schools
  • February 2, 2016 – Testimony in Support of SB 883 – Sponsor:  Jeanie Riddle – Requires referrals for out of state abortions to be accompanied by specified printed materials.
  • January 26, 2016 – Testimony in Support of SB 802 – Sponsor:  David Sater – Prohibits abortions performed solely because of a prenatal diagnosis, test, or screening indicating Down Syndrome or the potential of Down Syndrome in an unborn child
